Filipinos have settled in Juneau, Alaska as early as 1929. On February 7, 1956 under the Territory of Alaska, Filipinos in Juneau realized a dream by forming a social non-profit corporation, naming the "Filipino Community, Inc." They identified the purpose of the origination as:
"To foster better and harmonious relationships, understanding, and brotherhood
among ourselves and with other ethnic
groups, and to keep alive our
Filipino heritage, culture, customs and traditions.” |

The vision and legacy of the early Filipinos continue to exist and thrive today as we honor and respect our forefathers, remember our heritage, culture, customs, and traditions, and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Filipino Community, Inc. Mabuhay! |
